Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that individuals feel driven to perform in response to those thoughts. These obsessions and compulsions can significantly interfere with daily life and cause distress.
Learn MoreGrief is the emotional response to loss, particularly the loss of a loved one, but it can also occur in response to significant life changes or losses, such as the end of a relationship or a major life transition. It encompasses a range of feelings, including sadness, anger, confusion, and longing, and can manifest physically, emotionally, and socially. Grief is a deeply personal experience and can vary widely in its expression and duration.
Learn MoreIndividuals facing medical issues may seek therapy to cope with the emotional and psychological challenges that arise from their condition. Chronic illness or serious medical diagnoses can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation. Therapy provides a supportive space to process these emotions, develop coping strategies, and navigate the impact of their health on relationships and daily life. Additionally, it can help empower individuals to regain a sense of control and improve their overall well-being during difficult times.
Learn MoreCaregiving is a challenging role that often places individuals in dual positions, such as spouse and caregiver or child and caregiver. This duality can lead to feelings of emotional and physical drain, sadness, and fear. I provide a safe space for them to vent and process their emotions, while also offering practical advice and strategies drawn from my years of experience working with elders in the community. My goal is to empower caregivers with the tools they need to navigate this demanding journey.
Learn MoreIn recent years, I have noticed an increasing number of people grappling with anxiety. This can manifest as general anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, panic attacks, or other forms, often leading to significant distress. I assist clients in identifying and challenging the negative thought patterns that fuel their anxiety. Together, we develop coping strategies and mindfulness practices that empower them to manage their anxiety effectively. By fostering self-awareness and promoting emotional well-being, I help clients lead fulfilling lives despite their anxiety challenges.
Learn MoreI offer support for individuals facing relationship challenges, whether between spouses, partners, parents and children (including adult children), friends, and more. Long-term relationships can be particularly complex, as partners often grow at different rates and sometimes in seemingly divergent directions. However, this doesn’t mean relationships are doomed. My work focuses on helping individuals identify negative patterns and communication issues while clarifying their relationship goals. Additionally, I assist clients in recognizing their strengths and positive qualities that may be difficult to see. Together, we navigate relationship challenges and work toward meaningful goals.
Learn MoreI provide a welcoming and non-judgmental space for individuals seeking to navigate life's challenges, even if they don't have a specific issue or diagnosis. My approach emphasizes active listening and open dialogue, allowing clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. Whether facing stress, transitions, or a sense of unfulfillment, I help clients gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and foster resilience. Together, we work toward personal growth and well-being, empowering individuals to lead more fulfilling lives.
Learn MoreIn a first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming and confidential environment where you can share your thoughts and feelings. I will typically begin by discussing your background and the reasons you're seeking therapy including current struggles and starting to explore goals. The session is an opportunity for you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have about the therapy process. Overall, the first session is about establishing rapport, understanding your needs, and laying the foundation for your therapeutic journey. It’s a safe space to begin exploring your thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Therapy sessions can differ in duration depending on the client and the specific session. Typically, sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes. Occasionally, sessions may extend beyond 60 minutes in cases of crisis or significant issues that need extra attention.
Therapy sessions can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. I generally prefer to meet with clients weekly for the first 8 to 12 sessions. However, some clients may begin with bi-weekly sessions, and we will determine the frequency together.
I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide superbills for my clients. These superbills can be submitted to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement, depending on your plan's benefits. Please reach out to your insurer's member services to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network mental health providers.
I use an Electronic Medical Record system called Simple Practice, which includes a built-in telehealth platform. All telehealth sessions will be conducted through this system.
